Insanity Day 26

Insanity Workout: Core Cardio and Balance

I am happy to say that it has been exactly one month since I started the Insanity Challenge!  And yes, the title of this post is correct at Day 26.  I did not count the 4 days I was sick and did not workout.  But what a better way to enjoy it was with a beautiful day it was in the Chicagoland Area. Well we’ve only had about 3 or 4 big snow storms this whole winter and even those weren’t as bad as last year.  Needless to say we’ve had pretty great weather all winter.  It was a wonderful feeling to leave the house in sweatpants and a sweatshirt and drive with my windows down while listening to summer-like music.  I was able to get some errands done especially get to the store to buy some food.  I absolutely love buying fresh produce and I’m such a sucker for fresh produce at great prices.

I had another late workout to Core Cardio and Balance.  I was able to keep up a little more today with the workout.  When it came to those Hip Flexor Burners, I improved a bit by holding longer.  Those Shoulder Burners in Plie were still tough.  Small progress is still progress!  Since it was warmer outside, I knew would work up a bigger sweat during my workout.  It generally either gets very hot or cold in my room depending on how it is outside.  I was tempted to turn on my fan but I just loved that sweaty feeling haha.  Throughout the workout, I noticed that my shorts are getting looser and they actually kept falling down a bit lol.  Maybe a bit “TMI” but it’s true.  I’m trying to hold out until I lose more weight to buy more clothes but it looks like I might have to start now.

The quote below was shared today by Eddie (my Beachbody Coach/friend).  I’ve heard it before but I thought I’d share it as well since it’s a great quote.  Hope you all had a great day!

Insanity Day 25

Insanity Workout: Core Cardio and Balance

Week 5 is here and it’s Recovery Week!  This week lets your body recover from Month 1 and time prepare yourself for what’s to come in Month 2.  The workout for the next six days is Core Cardio and Balance.  It’s a 37 minute workout that isn’t as intense as the workouts from the previous month.  I thought it might be pretty easy but I had a feeling that Shaun T wouldn’t let you off the hook.  After all, it is called “Insanity” for a reason.  Most of the moves lasted a minute long and I was able to keep up most of the time.  My legs and shoulders were burning towards the end of the workout because it was all about slow and controlled moves.  The Hip Flexor Burners and Shoulder Burners in Plie were tough but I pushed through and I worked up a good sweat at the end.

I have been sort of feeling impatient the past couple of days.  I know losing 10 pounds in a month is a great accomplishment but I felt like I should’ve lost more.  I just can’t wait to get to my goal weight.  I need to remind myself that I’m going in the right direction and I’m losing weight the right way.  I’m also building muscle while losing weight.  All that matters is how I’m feeling.  I need to stay patient because great things take time and I need to just keep going.

23 and 1/2 hours

Her’s an interesting video I found on YouTube about taking 30 minutes a day to exercise.

23 and 1/2 hours: What is the single best thing we can do for our health?

A Doctor-Professor answers the old question “What is the single best thing we can do for our health” in a completely new way.

Insanity Day 24

Insanity Workout: Day Off

It was very nice to finally have a day off after working out to Insanity for 13 straight days.  I thought working out with Fast and Furious last Sunday would catch me up a little bit because I was sick a couple weeks ago and missed 4 days.  However, I worked out today in a way but at the same time I didn’t.  I was talking about Insanity with my friend Stacey tonight…actually I talk about it with her a lot.  Well I always see the informercial on TV each time I go over to her house and I got up when Shaun T was demonstrating the moves.  I started to do them and got her to get up and try them with me.  We then decided to do the Shaun T’s Miracle 15-Minute Workout from the Doctor Oz Show.  I did only did some of the moves because I knew I had to take the rest.  But I jumped in here and there but we stop a little over half-way through it.  Hi Stacey by the way lol.

I’m feeling great and I’m so ready for recovery week.  It’s all Core Cardio and Balance this week.  I haven’t watched the it yet so I’m curious on how intense it will be for being a recovery workout.  A week from now starts the Month 2 and I’m scared, yet very excited to get into those.  But I’m up for the challenge : )

Insanity Day 23

Insanity Workout: Plyometric Cardio Circuit

What a long day!  I had to get up super early this morning for a day trip and I ended up only getting less than 4 hours of sleep.  Even though I was super exhausted and all I wanted to do was nap when I got home, I did my workout to Plyometric Cardio Circuit.  I was getting my workout done no matter what.  Once again I took it a little easy and made sure I worked on my breathing.  My body just felt so exhausted and it was still sore from doing Max Interval Circuit and P90X Ab Ripper X from Wednesday.  In a way my body was sort of getting “punished” from not taking the scheduled day off on Sunday.  For anyone else just starting Insanity, I recommend taking your scheduled days off to recover especially since this workout is very intense.  Anyways after my workout, I finally drank my daily dose of Shakeology and it felt like I gained more energy.  I also realized as of today, we have completed Month 1 of our Insanity Challenge!  I’m very excited for a much needed day off tomorrow and our recovery week next week.  After that starts the highly intense Month 2 with Max workouts!

Insanity Day 22

Insanity Workout: Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs

Another day, another workout completed!  Or in this case two workouts completed.  I literally just finished Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs and I worked out later than I wanted to.  I took it a little easier today because I was worried my jaw would start hurting again.  I’m not sure if I was paranoid or whatever, but it felt like it was a little sore.  I made sure I kept breathing and taking deep breaths during breaks.  My whole body is still sore from doing Max Interval Circuit a couple days ago especially my abs.  I guess it’s a good sign that I’m sore.  It means my body is improving and I’m building more muscle so I can get stronger.  Well it’s time I put myself to bed.  I have to get up super early tomorrow.  Have a great weekend!

Insanity Day 21

Insanity Workout: Cardio Recovery

I felt like I had lost a pound from doing Max Interval Circuit yesterday.  I weighed myself when I woke up and I did lose a pound making that 10 pounds lost so far since 2/6/12!  I felt a little sore when I woke up as well.  I’m glad I wasn’t too sore to the point I had a trouble moving around.  It was such a relief to do Cardio Recovery today after a crazy workout yesterday.  I’m definitely going to take the scheduled day off on Sunday to relax since I did not do that this past Sunday.  My body needs a day to rest and maybe that was why my jaw was hurting during workouts this week.  My jaw did not hurt at all and I made sure I was breathing throughout my whole workout.  Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs tomorrow!

Insanity Day 11

Insanity Workout: Fit Test #2

Another long day in the books!  It was an earlier start time at work and I went to breakfast with a co-worker beforehand so I had to get my Fit Test done tonight.  I try to get my workout in during the day because I just like working out when the sun is still out.  I think I feel as if I have more energy.  I completed my Fit Test and some moves improved big time and some improved by a few.  Either way I improved in all 8 moves.  I find that the upper body moves are harder since I have a lot of body weight at the moment. (Do you like how I said “at the moment”?  I know I do lol.)  I posted my results below with only the number I increased by.  They’re not bad for missing 4 days.

I was going to do Cardio Abs right after the test but I felt light-headed and I decided not to do it.  There are two workouts scheduled for tomorrow including Cardio Abs so I want to be able to get through both just fine.  I don’t want to relapse into another cold.  It will be an easier day tomorrow work and errand-wise and I plan on getting those workouts done before anything else.

Fit Test #2 Results (Numbers are not actual reps, only improvements):
1. Switch Kicks = 16
2. Power Jacks= 11
3. Power Knees = 32
4. Power Jumps = 11
5. Globe Jumps= 3
6. Suicide Jumps = 4
7. Push-Up Jacks = 4
8. Low Plank Oblique = 12
