I know some of you might be a little curious to my methods for my diet and exercise so I thought I would share.  If anyone has any questions, I would be more than happy to answer them!  And if anyone has any extra tips, they would be very much appreciated!

*DIET*

Calorie Counting – Currently at 1600 calories

I figured out my daily calorie intake to maintain my weight.  If you want to lose fat, a useful guideline for lowering your calorie intake is to reduce your calories by at least 500, but not more than 1000 below your maintenance level.  There are approximately 3500 calories in a pound of stored body fat.   They say if you create a 3500-calorie deficit through diet, exercise or a combination of both, you will lose one pound of body weight.  If you would like more info on how to figure our your own calorie intake, go to http://bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/harris-benedict-equation.

To count calories, I downloaded the MyFitnessPal app on my iPhone.  It’s a very easy calorie counter that has the largest food database of any iPhone calorie counter.  It also keeps track of exercise and water entry with a breakdown of nutrients of what you have eaten.  I simply set my calorie intake and it helps me keep track of what I each for each meal and snack each day.  MyFitnessPal has helped me tremendously and I highly recommend it for anyone to use.  You don’t even need an iPhone/iPad/iPod to use it…just go to http://myfitnesspal.com.  If you would like to add me, my user name is xtinec84.

*TORSOBALL*

Back in November 2010, I came across an opportunity to be apart of a challenge for this new exercise ball.  This ball is called the TorsoBall (http://torsoball.com).  The TorsoBall combines the fluid rotation of an exercise ball with a unique handle design structured to provide a full-body, zero impact workout with emphasis on the abdominals.  The TorsoBall workout consists of 3 circuits which should take about 30 minutes to complete depending on a person’s fitness level.  But if you don’t have time to do the full workout, there is a 3 minute work out called the “One And Done”.
