Day 14

I had a very GREAT night last night!  I went out and saw a lot of familiar faces so it was kind of a reunion.  I felt like I had a big smile throughout whole night and I just felt great!  I felt as if I was giving out a great vibe and I got a few comments about my weight loss so far.  On top of that, some of my clothes are starting to feel a little looser on me.

At work, I ran into inspirational speaker, coach, and natural health author of the self-help book titled Mind Your Own Wellness; Alex Ong.  I gave him an update on how I have been doing and how much better I am feeling.  He told me that he can tell that I have more energy now and I am more positive.  He also said that he would love to get a testimonial from me after I finish reading his book but of course to take my time.  I am for sure going to finish his book because there are so many helpful tips and I know it will help me out even more along my journey.  Speaking with Alex definitely gave me more motivation to keep pushing.

They have a loop of videos playing on all of the TV’s on display at work.  One of the videos is a commercial for theAustralian Open which starts tomorrow.  I would LOVE to be able to go to the Australian Open someday as well as the other tournaments.  I absolutely love tennis and it made me realize how much I miss playing since I rarely play these days.  It definitely toned my arms and legs and my stamina was pretty good.  I’m hoping to play for the College of DuPage in the fall since I have one more year of eligibility left.  Tennis would be a great exercise addition and I would be doing something I love to do.  I am for sure going to sign up for classes at my local tennis club and get back into playing on a regular basis.

I weighed myself again this morning because it’s included on the Body Test on the Wii Fit Plus.  I lost another pound which makes it 14 pounds lost since the January 3rd.  I worked out at home tonight and did the workout program along with some dumbbells and Wii Fit Plus.  I started to feel a little dizzy about half-way through everything so I ended my workout a few minutes into Wii Fit Plus.  I think I need to a little eat more and get closer to my goal for the day so I don’t get like this again.

Goal = 1400
Food = 1155
Exercise = 296
Net = 859
Remaining = 541

Day 14 down, 351 days to go
14 pounds lost since 1/3/2011

Day 13

My new method to eating is working out so well for me.  I ended up being below my calorie intake yet again so I now made my calorie intake to 1400 calories per day.  I feel like I’m eating enough and I’m more satisfied.

It’s a shame that Planet Fitness closes early on the weekends because I would love to be able to go after work.  But I was able to get a pretty good workout in at home.  I worked out using the new workout program and worked out using my Wii Fit Plus.

Goal = 1400
Food = 1042
Exercise = 416
Net = 626
Remaining = 774

Day 13 down, 352 days to go
13 pounds lost since 1/3/2011

Day 12

I know I said I was going to work out double time today but I wasn’t able to get any workouts in today yet again.  I had to go from one job to the next.  I was running around trying to get some work done for my merchandising job since it’s due today.

I started a different method to eating today.  I got the tip from a friend.  I will be eating every couple of hours or so throughout the day but only a small amount each time.  For breakfast, lunch, and dinner I’ll have a bit more.  I’m not eating to the point where I’m full either.  It’s working for my friend so so far it’s working out just fine for me.  I didn’t feel as hungry and even though I wasn’t able to work out, I was well under my calorie intake for the day.  And another good thing is that I didn’t spend any money on having to buy food while I’m out working.

Goal = 1600
Food = 1209
Exercise = 0
Net = 1209
Remaining = 391

Day 12 down, 353 days to go
13 pounds lost since 1/3/2011

Day 11

I really need to stop weighing myself everyday.  I’ve become like my cousin who shall remain nameless lol.  I lost another 2 pounds yet again bringing my grand total to 13 pounds since I started on the 3rd.  I didn’t do my usual workout and I still lost weight.  I’m still amazed on how great I feel though.

After work I went grocery shopping with a new friend.  He taught me more about stuff I need to pay attention to and what to eat/what not to eat.  I’m always looking for better ways to change up my diet so his knowledge was very helpful.  If he’s reading this right now, thanks again!

I’ve been scrambling to get work done for my newest job so I won’t be able to workout tonight.  I know it’s no excuse but I’m definitely going to be working out double time tomorrow after work.

Goal = 1600
Food = 1285
Exercise = 0
Net = 1301
Remaining = 299

Day 11 down, 354 days to go
13 pounds lost since 1/3/2011

Day 10

I took it easy over the weekend because I was in Madison so I didn’t see a lot of results from Friday through Monday.  I didn’t work out Friday or Sunday. I only worked out on Saturday for 20 minutes on the elliptical.  I worked out Monday and last night and I have lost another 2 pounds since my last weigh in yesterday morning.  I know it’s bad to lose too might weight too fast but I’m trying not to lose so much.

I worked downtown today and had to drive instead of taking the train like I normally do.  But since I drove, I decided to stop at Best Buy and get a Wii Fit Plus.  I did research on the different Wii workout games and the reviews on Wii Fit Plus were very good.  I’m always looking to add to my routine so that’s why I got it.  I still plan on also getting The Biggest Loser Challenge and Wii Active 2.

I set everything up and tried out a few of the exercises.  So far I have found out that my balance is horrible lol.  The game keeps track of how much time you spent doing the exercises.  For the 33 minutes I spend, I lost 141 calories from just trying it out.  Who says you can’t lose weight and have fun from a video game.  Right after doing that, I spent 5 minutes doing the workout for my stomach.  I really want to go to the gym right now but it’s pretty late.  At least I got a little exercise in.  Thank you Wii Fit haha.

Goal = 1600
Food = 1231
Exercise = 201
Net = 1030
Remaining = 570

Day 10 down, 355 days to go
11 pounds lost since 1/3/2011

Day 9

Hello everyone! As you can see from my lack of posts, I had stopped my diet around the time of my last post. Thank you to those who have commented in my previous posts.  They helped me a lot and is the reason why I have started up my blog again.

Since December 6th, I gained back most of the weight I lost but for some reason I was still 2 pounds under the weight that I started at in November. Overall I had a bad month and it wasn’t the right time for me to start a diet with the Holidays and all. Just like everyone else in the world, I wanted to start dieting and exercising in the New Year. The big difference is that I plan on keeping my goal while other people just do it during the first month then get lazy about it. I didn’t make a New Years Resolution to lose weight. I just made it a point to do better than I did last year.

I started my dieting and exercising on Monday, January 3rd, 2011. Instead of restarting my blog at Day 1, I’ll continue where I left off. I have also tweaked my diet and added more into my exercise. Instead of eating a lot of protein and eating very little carbs, I decided to count calories. I can kind of still eat what I want but instead of white rice or white bread for example, I’ll have brown rice or whole wheat bread.  I’m reading labels and checking on the calories, sodium, fat, etc.  I’m still drinking 12 8 oz. glasses of water per day and I find it a lot easier to do this time around.  I’m not even drinking diet pop or my favorite, Coke Zero.

I figured out my daily calorie intake to maintain my weight. If you want to lose fat, a useful guideline for lowering your calorie intake is to reduce your calories by at least 500, but not more than 1000 below your maintenance level.  I decided to subtract my number 1200 which makes it 1600 calories per day that I can take in.  There are approximately 3500 calories in a pound of stored body fat.   They say if you create a 3500-calorie deficit through diet, exercise or a combination of both, you will lose one pound of body weight.  If you would like more info on how to figure our your own calorie intake, go to http://bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/harris-benedict-equation.

I downloaded the MyFitnessPal app on my iPhone.  It’s a very easy calorie counter that has the largest food database of any iPhone calorie counter.  It also keeps track of exercise and water entry with a breakdown of nutrients of what you have eaten.  I simply set my calorie intake and it helps me keep track of what I each for each meal and snack each day.  MyFitnessPal has helped me tremendously and I highly recommend it for anyone to use.  You don’t even need an iPhone/iPad/iPod to use it…just go to http://myfitnesspal.com.

As far as my exercise, I am still doing the new workout program I came across in November.  I do a half hour that works mostly my core but it gives me a full body workout and keeps my heart rate high.  I signed up at Planet Fitness last Monday so I do my workout from home and go straight to the gym for cardio and weight training to tone my body for at least another hour.  I plan on slowly increasing my workouts as I get stronger and lose weight.

I will not be posting what I eat each day.  I will be posting my calorie breakdown of each day starting with today.

Goal = 1600
Food = 1625
Exercise = 456
Net = 1169
Remaining = 431

As I said earlier, I was 2 pounds down from when I first started in November.  Since Monday, the 3rd I have lost a total of 9 pounds.  That’s pretty much 1 pound a day but I lost the bulk of it during the week last week.  I feel a lot better this time around and I feel great!  I really have the motivation I need to get to my goal and I am very excited to see the results a year from now : )

The countdown continues once again!

9 pounds lost since 1/3/2011

Day 8

Another day of not working out again.  All I felt like doing was sitting around and doing nothing since I ran around so much last week.  I told myself I would get back on track but I have had so many things running though my mind the past week.  I’ve hit a few bumps already and I can’t let this happen again.  I need to get myself more positive and give more of a positive feel to this blog as well.  Sorry to those who have been reading lately.  Tomorrow is another new day and I promise I will get myself back on track!

Day 7

I know I need to get myself back on track.  This new job I took on stressed me out and I couldn’t concentrate on other things.  At least I’m done with that.  I haven’t been able to workout since Tuesday night.  I’ve been alright with my diet minus the mozzarella sticks on Friday night and I haven’t been eating enough the past few days.  I also had some bread with dinner and a hot dog but I didn’t go all out with it.  A new week starts tomorrow and I’m going to get my workout in and stick to my diet.

Day 6

Continuing from my previous post, I talked about re-evaluating my situation with my new job.  As soon as I got home from my Birthday celebration, I emailed my manager about how I felt and that I am quitting.  I’m still waiting on a response from her.

Again today, I was not able to do my workout.  I wasn’t able to eat much either.   Since I went out for my Birthday and I needed something because I was drinking, I had a few mozzarella sticks.  I don’t think I’ll be able to workout until Monday now.

2 Boiled Eggs
2 Scrambled Egg Whites

Day 5

Happy 26th Birthday to me!

After posting Day 4 the other night, I had to stop and do a visit.  I went to the wrong location after submitting my paperwork lol.  I quickly did that and then went out for a bit for my Birthday.  It’s been tradition since I turned 21 to do a shot at midnight.  I wasn’t going to let my stress-filled day make me miss it.

Breakfast:
2 Boiled Eggs
2 Scrambled Egg Whites

Lunch:
Salad

Dinner:
None

I was unable to get my workout in before working a very very long day at both jobs.  I felt like I was unable to do anything today.  I definitely didn’t eat right but at least I was able to drink enough water.  These past couple of days have been so stressful that I couldn’t think straight and I feel like it was playing with my health.  I can’t even think straight right now as I write this.  I feel like I was thrown into this new job.  I got it on Tuesday and that night I was asked to complete 2 assignments.  I took on more than I should have with very little training.  I’m expected to finish everything by today but it’s not going to happen.  One store alone took more 4 hours and it’s supposed to only take 2 hours.  It’s time to re-evaluate this job and get back on track with losing this weight.  I need to start getting a positive feeling back up on this blog as well.

I’m just glad I’m done with work for the day.  Time to get ready and go out for my Birthday party!  I need to at least have some fun today.
