Les Mills Pump Workout: Pump and Shred

Busy day!  I spent the first half getting things ready for my event tonight.  After that, it was off to the event!  I’d say the event went pretty well.  It was a good experience.  As soon as I got home, I fell asleep.  Just straight up put my things down and laid down.  All I wanted to do was rest for a few minutes but for some reason I was tired.  I woke up a couple hours later.  I did not get my workout in and it was too late to go to the gym to get my run in.  I was contemplating on using today as an off day and working out on Sunday because I was sleepy.  I said to myself to get up and do it.  I know I would regret it tomorrow.  I worked out to Pump and Shred.  This was the last time I was working out to the DVD until I finish Les Mills Pump.  I worked through it especially in the lunge track.  I kept the 5 pound plates on the barbell.

Right now I am debating on staying up for the rest of the night so I can “reset” my sleep habits and go to bed early tomorrow night.  Or if I should just go to bed now and get up early either way.  I know I need the proper rest but I don’t want to end up waking up late again.  Hmmm…what to do lol. I haven’t lost a pound this week, which is starting to get frustrating.  I need to work on my eating habits on top of my sleeping habits.  I’m eating healthy for the most part by making breakfast and having Shakeology for lunch.  Lately, I have been buying salads from restaurants around the area.  I think it’s time to start cooking more.  Let’s lose some weight this week!

Les Mills Pump Day 51

Les Mills Pump Workout: Hard Core Abs & Combat
Other: Walk/Run Interval – 30 minutes

It was another relaxing, yet busy day.  I spent the day doing schoolwork once again and some work stuff from home.  I finally ran my errands tonight but I didn’t make it out to the grocery store.  Before I left the house, I worked out to Hard Core Abs.  After I did my errands, I went to the gym to train for my 5K.  I’m just following the app on my phone and hopefully I’ll catch up to where I’m supposed to be before the race.  I went a a little faster during my run intervals.  I was going to leave it at that as far as working out.  I decided to workout to Combat as soon as I got home.  A part of me wanted to see how many calories I would burn during Combat.  I burned 464 calories in that 45 minute workout.  I was sweating a lot more tonight in both my running and Combat.  It could be that it was warmer outside today but I love that sweat!

Time to get some rest!  It’s another busy day tomorrow!  I have more schoolwork and I have to get ready for my event tomorrow night.  Oh and trying to fit in more errands and my workout on top of that.  Gotta love it : )

Les Mills Pump Day 50

Les Mills Pump Workout: Pump Extreme
Other: Walk/Run Interval – 30 minutes

It has been a great Monday!  This was the type of start to the week I was looking for after having a not-so-good weekend.  I didn’t lose another pound…not yet.  But I did receive my new Polar FT7 Heart Rate Monitor (HRM).  I got it a lot earlier than they said it was scheduled to arrive.  Hey, I have no problem with that!  I also received something else but via email.  I got offered a position as a Nintendo Holiday Experience Brand Ambassador at a mall by my house!  Even though it’s only a month long, the compensation is very good and I am absolutely a gamer.  I have missed working in a retail setting too.  I will still be working for the other organization, which starts up next week.  Both tie in to my current schedule and I could use the extra cash for Christmas.  The good news does not stop there though.  I also signed on to be a part of a special event on Wednesday night.  I’m looking forward to that.

With the great mood I was in, I did some minor cleaning in my room.  I still have a lot more I would like to clean throughout the week.  Some of it includes separating the clothes I don’t wear anymore and clothes that are getting big on me.  It feels amazing just to say that.  Those will be donated.  I had made a list of the things I needed to accomplish for each day last night.   I was able to get through most of it.

I was excited to try out my new HRM.  I worked out to Pump Extreme earlier tonight.  As expected, Pump Extreme is similar to Pump Revolution with the length of each track.  The difference?  It is 59 minutes long and it is a tougher workout.  In my opinion, it is the toughest workout of the entire set.  I got through the warm-up, squat track, chest track, and legs and back track just fine.  The triceps and biceps track were a challenge again since this was my second time doing those in the program.  Lunges…LUNGES!!!  As if I was having a hard time getting through lunges, the track is harder than Pump Revolution.  I left the 5 pound plates on this time and pushed through them.  By the time the shoulders track came along, I was so tired.  I kept going and didn’t give up.  The abs track is a little easier than I thought it would.  And finally the cool down was great to get to.  I burned 545 calories in this workout.  I don’t know if I positioned it correctly because it was my first time using a HRM and all.  545 calories is good either way.

After resting for a couple hours, I went to the gym.  I finally put the free 1-year membership that I won from Planet Fitness to use.  I have less than three weeks to my 5K and I need to train everyday to make up for the time I took off from running.  The pain in my foot is still there but when I wear my new shoes, they don’t hurt at all.  It’s strange.  I continued with the training program app and did an interval of walking and running for 30 minutes.  It was a good training session and I burned 300 calories.

Tomorrow is filled with schoolwork, errands, and whatever else is on my list of things to do.  It’ll be a good day off from the weights.  Hard Core Abs and walking for 45 minutes is scheduled.  I’ll most likely substitute the walking for either Combat or Sports Attack.  And of course, I’ll be hitting the gym for more 5K training.

Les Mills Workout: Off Day

Sunday Funday? Ha! More like Lazy Sunday for me!  I don’t like to just lay around these days.  I like to stay more active and be busy.  Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of that.  I laid around and watched TV ALL DAY.  I’m very much enjoying these days off from working especially when it’s mixed with an off day from working out.  Today was exactly what I needed to relax and think about the week ahead.  I felt so much better today regardless of the laziness that came with it.  I’d like to think the weather had something to do with my mood over the past few days because it’s been rainy, chilly, and windy.  I was hoping to be able to run today.  With the lovely tornado warnings around the area, going outside did not seem like a good idea lol.  The sun is finally going to come out tomorrow so I’m happy about that.

Tomorrow begins Week 8 of Les Mills Pump.  The second workout of the two longest and toughest DVD’s is scheduled too…Pump Extreme.  I bet I’ll be sore once again on Tuesday.  The last time I’ll be working to Pump and Shred during this round is on Wednesday.  After that, it’s all Pump Revolution, Pump Extreme, Flow, Hard Core Abs, and walking from here.  Of course I’ll most likely substitute my walking for either Combat, Sports Attack, or maybe even Step if I ever get a stepper.  Or just go for a run.  There are only three weeks left before the Hot Chocolate 5K so I’m looking to train almost everyday.  There is minor pain when I move foot around sometimes but it feels like it’s almost healed.  I’m going to finally use the free 1-year membership I won from Planet Fitness back in February.  The weather should not be an excuse to not get a run in.

I only lost two pounds last week.  It’s okay since it’s my goal to lose at least two pounds a week.  I want to turn it up a bit more.  It’s time to push harder, work harder, and really get back on track.

Les Mills Pump Day 48

Les Mills Pump Workout: Walk 60 Minutes/Les Mills Core

I have had my fair share of ups and downs all day today.  I woke up feeling as if I went out drinking late last night and it felt like I was hungover.  Hoping to shake the feeling, I went to the mall with my best friend.  The scheduled workout for today was to walk for 60 minutes.  I walked around the mall for more than 60 minutes.  I felt better here and there but the bad feelings would come back as well.  The rainy weather did not help my mood either.

I had the choice of going out tonight but I didn’t.  It’s as if my mind was flooded with so many thoughts by the time we got back from the mall.  I didn’t want to ruin anyone else’s time so the best thing I could think of doing was to go home.  On top of that, I was so tired.  I immediately hopped into bed and fell asleep for a few hours.  I somewhat felt better when I woke up.  I wasn’t satisfied with the walking earlier so I worked out to Les Mills Core.  I didn’t have much for dinner tonight if you would call it that.  Overall, I ate very well today compared to last night.

I’m hoping to shake this feeling completely when I wake up tomorrow.  I apologize that this entry was random and a downer.  It’s not normal for me to post something like this as I want to make my blog positive and inspirational.  However, I believe days like these are a part of this journey.  Everyone has these days and unfortunately, it’s my time to have it.  Each time I feel this way, I’m able to bounce back stronger.  It’s an off day tomorrow but I think I’m going to go out for a run in the morning just in case I need to clear my mind anymore.  I can’t let one mistake get me down like this.  I can’t let it stop me and I won’t let it any longer.

Les Mills Pump Workout: Hard Core Abs & Flow

Happy Birthday to my Mom!

I am going to bed earlier and earlier each night, which is always a good thing.  When I woke up, I still felt a bit tired but not as bad as the the day before.  I spent my day doing homework and other work from my laptop.  I have been putting a dollar in a jar for every workout I complete and everyone pound that I lose since I started Les Mills Pump.  I have been wanting to buy a heart rate monitor and I more than enough money in the jar to finally buy one.  I found a great deal on eBay for an unopened Polar FT7 heart rate monitor.  I should arrive by October 18th at the latest.  I can’t wait to start using it in my workouts!

I took a break with a workout to Hard Core Abs and Flow.  It was kind of a recovery day I guess.  I went to finally pick up my Mom’s Birthday present after all of that.  My Dad and I split her present…a Keurig brewing system.  She has been wanting one and it’s the least I can do after all that she has done for me.  I want to make my Mom as happy as I can.  It’s taken me a long time to finally appreciate the ones that love you the most.  Life is too short so spend time with the ones who treat you right and tell them how much you love them.  You never know what tomorrow brings.

We went out for dinner to a restaurant of her choice.  It was a Chinese/Japanese buffet of course.  At the price for each person, it was amazing to see the very small selection of healthy choices they had.  Even though my Mom says differently, I think I ate so bad.  She said I didn’t eat as much compared to the way I used to eat.  Either way, I feel extremely guilty right now.  I don’t like this feeling.  What is also upsetting to me is how restaurants can keep serving bad foods and people keep eating it up.  There is still no excuse for me eating like crap.  My self discipline with food is one major area I have trouble in.  It’s as if I have no choice when it comes to going to a restaurant with barely any healthy options.  I do though.  It’s a learning experience each time I eat like this.  I have to remember that it took me YEARS to get where I am and it is a challenge to get to my goal weight.  Each time I fail, it does not mean I am giving up.  It is just a small bump in the road.  I have to work harder.  Tomorrow is a new day.

Les Mills Pump Day 46

Les Mills Pump Workout: Pump and Shred & Combat

Yes!  I went to bed earlier than the night before and woke up a little late but I stayed up.  The only problem was that I have been feeling super tired over the past couple of days.  Regardless of waking up late, I have been getting plenty of sleep.  All I have been wanting to do lay in my bed and sleep.  I did that for half of my day.  My eating habits have been the same too.  Maybe it’s the odd hours I’ve been going to bed?  I feel fine at the moment.  It was a bit hard getting through my workout to Pump and Shred this afternoon.  I woke up from a nap, which was not needed, and worked out.  My arms are still sore from Pump Revolution too.  To think of it, it all started after I did Pump Revolution.  Anyways, I pushed through the workout and modified my push ups and lunges.

I had one more workout to do earlier tonight at Fit Club.  I had a couple packets of the Energy and Endurance Formula from Beachbody.  It’s a pre-workout formula to help improve your energy, endurance, strength, and focus.  I mixed it with water on my way to Fit Club.  We worked out to Combat.  I definitely felt more energy during my workout and it helped me power through it.  It’s another supplement I’m thinking about getting now that I know it helps when I’m feeling tired.

It is nice to get my workout done earlier.  I can relax for the rest of the night.  Tomorrow will for sure be my errand and schoolwork day.  It is also my Mom’s Birthday tomorrow.  I want to make sure I get everything done before her Birthday dinner.  I’m going to bed as early as I can so I wake up as early as I can.

Les Mills Pump Day 45

Les Mills Pump Workout: Hard Core Abs & Combat

Day 45…sounds like the halfway point to me!  Is it just me or have the past couple of months gone fast?  Well, I went to bed super late again last night. I don’t know what my problem is lately!  On top of that I woke up early this morning, feel asleep again, and woke up the latest that I have woken up in a LONG time.  I need to turn off the TV and not look at my phone in bed.  When I finally woke up, I felt the soreness in my arms.  I expected it after last night’s workout to Pump Revolution.  No worries because I love that sore feeling.

I didn’t have an exciting day.  I spent my entire day at home doing some schoolwork.  The only time I went out was to go to the grocery store.  It was an extra day to let my foot heal more, which I think is almost there.  I just have to be careful with it.  I worked out to Hard Core Abs before I left the house and worked out to Combat when I got back.  Tomorrow should be more of a productive day full of errands, more schoolwork, and Fit Club.

Les Mills Pump Day 44

Les Mills Pump Workout: Pump Revolution

The revolution is here! Pump Revolution that is.  I’ll get to that in a bit.  I also have some good news, which I will end this entry with.  I could not fall asleep last night and I felt sick.  I was feeling nauseous and I might have had a slight fever.  I was thinking maybe I need to eat something so I did.  I went right to bed after that.  I woke up early but I ended up falling asleep.  Even though I woke up much later than I wanted to, I felt better.  I went to the end of season staff party at one of my job’s earlier tonight.  It was fun and it was even interesting at times.

It was time to get to workout to Pump Revolution as soon as I got home!  This was my first time doing this 55-minute long workout.  I got through the warm up just fine.  First track was squats.  There were definitely a lot more reps this time around since this track was six minutes long.  It was tough at the end but I did not stop.  The chest track was up next and again it was a longer track with more reps.  After that is always one of my favorite tracks; legs and back. Once again, more reps and a longer track.  Seeing the pattern here?  I was hesitant to use the 10 pound plates being that it was longer.  I decided to put them on.  My back was on fire when I finished!  The six sets of three deadrows at the end were killer.  Finally!  I get to add in triceps and biceps!  I have been wanting to work on them because I have lost a lot of tone in my arms ever since I stopped playing tennis on a regular basis.  I enjoyed the triceps track.  It is going to surely shape the back of my arms.  The biceps track was a little harder.  Doing bottom halves in bicep curls were crazy.  Shoulders were next and I did more bottom halves!  By this point, I felt like my arms were going to fall off.  I pushed as hard as I could and didn’t stop.  Onto my favorite track of the workout…lunges.  And I’m using that term very loosely.  There were three options in this track: hold one plate on one side, hold two plates at your sides, or use the barbell during squats and lunges.  I opted to hold two plates for squats and switched to one plate during lunges.  Tough, tough track.  I had to shake my legs out twice but I quickly went back to it.  Just like all of the other workouts, the final track was abs.  Again, harder than the last with a couple new moves that I have never seen.  And finally I finished Pump Revolution with a much needed cool down!  At the end of the workout, they said that there were over 800 reps.  It’s amazing how you can do that many reps in under an hour.

I know I am going to be sore in my arms tomorrow with the addition to triceps and biceps.  It’s all good because I love that feeling.  You know what else is a good feeling?  Losing another pound!  14 pounds lost since August 27th!  This loss was more important than the last.  Not only that I have lost all of the weight that I gained back in between finishing round two of Insanity and starting Les Mills Pump, but I am back to losing weight again period.  Yes, it was a lot of weight gained back in a short amount of time.  The best part is I that have reached another milestone in my weight loss journey.  I am currently at the lowest weight that I have been at in YEARS!  It is a great accomplishment thus far and I am blessed to have the tremendous support from my friends and family and everyone in between.  I still have a ways to go but I am going to keep going until I reach the ultimate milestone…to be at my lowest weight EVER! : )

Les Mills Pump Day 43

Les Mills Pump Workout: Hard Core Abs & Pump and Burn

Happy Monday!  I managed to go to bed a little earlier last night.  I’ll slowly keep working backwards each night until it gets too early to go to bed haha.  I went to the Chicago Bulls 6th Man Jam at the United Center earlier today.  The event sort of kicks off basketball season with autographs and opportunities to take a picture on the court and take a shot.  Now, I never imagined that I would be one of those people who run like hell to stand in line as soon as they enter the gate.  I was always thinking why?  Well, I did just that lol.  There was only an hour for autographs and each line had a max of 500 tickets to stand in line or until the hour is up.  We ran up steps and to the line that would most likely fill up first.  I was wearing gym shoes and had wrapped my foot.  I definitely brought some pain back by running and I think I wrapped my foot too tight. Or maybe I was wearing the wrong shoes.  I know I said I would go to the doctor to see what was going on if I was still hurting today.  I’ll wait until Wednesday and try to take care of it as much as I can.  I do want to try running tomorrow with the new shoes I bought. I’ll take it slow and stop if it hurts more.

Today starts off Week 7 of Les Mills Pump.  I worked out to Hard Core Abs and Pump and Burn.  Surprisingly, my foot didn’t really hurt during both workouts.  Hard Core Abs always has that awesome burn in your core.  I tried to not modify through the walking planks.  I was able to take it a little further until I had to come back down to my knees.  This was the last time that I would be working out to Pump and Burn of this round.  I made sure I made it count.  I have been conscious of my form during my squats and the legs and back track.  I have also been so conscious of where my feet are in general.  I recorded myself during those tracks.  I noticed that I keep moving my feet around to make sure they are in the right place and angle.  I need to stop doing that and stop being so conscious in general.  However, my squats look just fine.  My form during deadlifts, deadrow, and clean and press look correct too.

Tomorrow involves some work from home and getting my workouts done before the end of season staff party in the early evening.  Pump Revolution gets incorporated into the schedule as well.  Let’s see how it goes!
